ARCHILLUME LIGHTING DESIGN, INC. was founded in 1985 by Charles K. Thompson, FAIA. Laura P. Thompson, PhD joined the firm as Principal and President in 2014. We provide lighting design services to architects, interior designers and owners. We have worked with a diverse Clientele on hundreds of projects. Through the design of lighting and lighting controls, the professional staff at ARCHILLUME, strives to enhance and add value to our projects. Great importance is placed on getting the details right with responsive, professional service and direct principal involvement.
Laura P. Thompson, PhD, Principal and President of ARCHILLUME, is a registered interior designer in the State of Texas and is National Council for Interior Design Qualification certified. She is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and the Illuminating Engineering Society.
Laura integrates her professional practice, education and research to create unique lighting solutions that brings value to each project. She has given research presentations at national and international venues and publishes in a variety of scholarly venues related to her specializations.
Laura's creative activities include collage, photography and weaving. Her passions include travel, vegan cooking, PEZ collecting and Pembroke Welsh Corgis.

Charles Thompson, founder and Vice President of ARCHILLUME, is a Fellow in the AIA and an interior designer. He is a corporate member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
He is one of the first lighting professionals to receive LIGHTING CERTIFICATION from the NCQLP. Thompson oversees every project and maintains a high level of involvement from beginning to end.
Being a principal of ARCHILLUME LIGHTING DESIGN, INC. since 1985, Charles has little recollection of what he did before then. Charles' passions include family, travel, photography and Harley-Davidsons.

Thompson, FAIA, leads AIA-accredited workshops that are applicable to anyone involved in lighting design, specification and sales. Workshops are fast-paced and lighthearted in style with a focus on walk-away values such as lighting rules of thumb, ceiling plans and fixture spacing, the latest in LED technology, and cost and bidding strategies.
